Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has met with a delegation from the European Parliament to discuss economic, energy and security issues, according to the Ukrainian government's website.

In particular, the participants in the meeting discussed the possible strengthening of sanctions against Russia and mechanisms to counter the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.

Shmyhal thanked the European Union for its consistent support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to him, a sign of this support is the decision by the European Commission to grant Ukraine new emergency macro-financial assistance worth EUR 1.2 billion. He expressed hope that the European Parliament would also support this initiative.
