The launch of the Crimea Platform Office will signal that Ukraine takes a serious and systematic approach to the de-occupation of Crimea at the international and national levels.

As Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said in a comment to Ukrinform, the Crimea Platform Office will be, in essence, the national headquarters of this diplomatic initiative in Ukraine and will coordinate the whole range of issues related to the Platform’s activities. According to Kuleba, coordination is crucial as these issues are the competence of a number of Ukrainian government agencies.

Ukraine’s chief diplomat reminded that the President of Ukraine would present the Crimea Platform Office to foreign guests who will take part in the summit on August 23.

“This will be an important signal that Ukraine takes a serious and systematic approach to the de-occupation of Crimea at the international and national levels. And I think that's very correct and honest. In this way, we send a signal to our partners: when Ukraine calls for joint action, it does not just ask for support, we ourselves work daily to solve the problems of the Russian occupation of Crimea and finally restore international law and Ukraine’s control over the peninsula,” Kuleba said.

The Crimea Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to step up the efficiency of international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, increase international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupation regime, and achieve the main goal: to de-occupy Crimea and restore Ukraine’s sovereignty over the peninsula.

The Platform is to operate at several levels: heads of state and government, foreign ministers, inter-parliamentary cooperation, expert network.

The activity of the Crimea Platform will be officially launched at the inaugural summit in Kyiv on August 23, 2021.
