Poland’s 2022 OSCE chairmanship will pay close attention to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk agreements and full respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

“One of the most striking examples of recent challenges to European security is the conflict that affects Ukraine’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It has already killed more than 13,000 people. Poland will fully support all diplomatic efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement of the conflict in and around Ukraine, in accordance with the Minsk agreements and full respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity within its internationally recognized borders,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau said at the OSCE Permanent Council meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to him, the main item on the agenda of Poland’s 2022 OSCE chairmanship will be the promotion of progress in the peaceful settlement of conflicts in the OSCE participating States “in accordance with the OSCE principles and commitments.”

In his speech, the Polish Foreign Minister also praised the contribution of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to the peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine. “The SMM should be able to fully and effectively fulfill its mandate throughout Ukraine,” he said.

Poland will take over the one-year OSCE rotating presidency on January 1, 2022.
