The Cabinet of Ministers recommends that the Verkhovna Rada approve the state target program “Drinking Water” for 2022-2026.

The relevant decision was approved at a government meeting on June 30, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The purpose of the program is to provide populated areas with quality centralized water supply, bringing the quality of drinking water to the established standards and creating infrastructure that can provide water supply and water quality control.

According to the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, which elaborated the program, the estimated cost of the project is UAH 28.589 billion, including UAH 16.949 billion from the state budget.

As expected, the program will improve the quality of wastewater treatment, ensure the disposal of sludge, introduce new technologies in drinking water supply, and reduce water losses in the networks. In particular, it is planned to build 290 water intake facilities, 280 water supply and treatment facilities, and 1,093 water supply networks.

As reported, on April 28, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the concept of the state target social program "Drinking Water of Ukraine" for 2022-2026.
