Passportization in eastern Ukraine shows that Russia not going to end conflict – Reintegration Ministry
Deputy Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Ihor Yaremenko said this during a press conference at Ukrinform on June 9
"The latest rhetoric and actions demonstrated by the Russian Federation are completely opposite. The same accelerated passportization in Donbas is an absolutely clear signal that the Russian Federation does not intend to end this conflict or somehow settle it," he said.
Yaremenko also noted that over the past two years, Russia had tried to destabilize the situation inside Ukraine, divide people, and sow discord and panic. In his opinion, the Russians have failed to do this.
In this regard, the deputy minister believes that the Russian Federation will look for "new ways of working on the Ukrainian chessboard."
As reported, Russia illegally issues its passports to Ukrainian citizens in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. More than half a million passports have already been issued.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a press conference on May 20 that Ukraine can influence the illegal issuance of Russian passports in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions only through diplomatic means, there are no other options.
