OSCE Secretary General: Minsk and Normandy formats are only way to settle conflict in eastern Ukraine
"I would also like to note on behalf of the OSCE that during Sweden's chair of this organization, we will support all efforts to resolve the conflict on the basis of the Minsk process, and we will support the Normandy format. Of course, this is the only way to settle this conflict," Schmid said at a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv following the talks on May 26, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
She assured that the OSCE was documenting the incidents taking place in occupied Crimea. In addition, the Secretary General is convinced of the need to expand the capacities of the Special Monitoring Mission and focus more on mine action.
Schmid noted that the work of the OSCE SMM was highly valued in Ukraine, adding that the Mission faces restrictions on access to the territories.
As reported, OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid makes a visit to Ukraine on May 26-30, during which she plans to meet with high-ranking officials and visit the Joint Forces Operation area in eastern Ukraine.
