Alarming trends and escalation: Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania discuss situation in Donbas
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with the media together with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nausėda, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The President informed that a wide range of issues and priorities of cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania was discussed at the meeting of the Council of Presidents.
“Lithuania knows and sees what serious efforts we are making for peace in Donbas and de-occupation of the Ukrainian Crimea. We noted today the alarming trends in the security situation in eastern Ukraine, the increase in provocations and attempts to violate the ceasefire, the lack of progress and, unfortunately, the slowdown in the implementation of the Minsk agreements caused by the Russian Federation. This proves a need for a more decisive reaction of the international community to this behavior,” Zelensky said.
He thanked Nausėda for Lithuania's position on strengthening international sanctions against Russia, which should be maintained until the full implementation of the Minsk agreements and the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
