Ukraine's Ambassador to Georgia Ihor Dolhov has conveyed an official invitation from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili to take part in the Crimean Platform summit and celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia wrote about this on its Facebook page following Dolhov's meeting with Head of the Presidential Administration of Georgia Natia Sulava.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Georgia on the basis of strategic partnership, the time frame of the current official visit of the President of Georgia to Ukraine, as well as the efforts of both countries to overcome the consequences of the pandemic and restore bilateral economic and tourism potential.

“Ambassador Ihor Dolhov conveyed to Natia Sulava an invitation on behalf of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili to take part in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform and celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, which will be held in Kyiv on August 23-24," the report reads.

As reported, the Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the efficiency of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, step up international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupying power and to achieve the de-occupation of Crimea and its return to Ukraine.

The Crimean Platform is expected to operate at the level of heads of state and government, foreign ministers, in the dimension of inter-parliamentary cooperation and expert network.

The Crimean Platform will be launched officially at an inaugural summit in Kyiv on August 23, 2021.
