First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar met with British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons to discuss the concept of the International Crimean Platform.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service, the interlocutors discussed the importance of increasing the attention of the international community to the Crimean issue, as well as Ukraine’s vision of the creation and functioning of the Crimean Platform in the context of the deteriorating human rights situation in the occupied Crimea and Russia’s militarization of the Azov-Black Sea region.

Dzheppar informed the British ambassador about the substantive elements of the platform initiated by the President of Ukraine, and also expressed hope for the active participation of the United Kingdom in it.

In turn, Melinda Simmons expressed support for the concept of the Crimean Platform and readiness for further consultations on this issue, adding that the UK remains committed to protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Dzheppar thanked the British partners for their firm position in supporting Ukraine both at the bilateral level, as evidenced by the recent visit of the President of Ukraine to the UK, and within the framework of international organizations.

As reported, on September 23, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented the concept of the International Crimean Platform to the UN and invited international partners to join the initiative for de-occupation of the peninsula.
