Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun agreed on mutual assistance in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, as well as on strengthening trade and economic relations.

Shmyhal and Biegun discussed these issues during a meeting in Kyiv today.

“I am pleased to welcome U.S. Deputy Secretary Stephen Biegun to Ukraine. We discussed strengthening our cooperation. We agreed on mutual support in the fight against COVID-19, as well as the enhancement of trade and economic relations," Shmyhal reported on Twitter.

He also invited American investors to participate in the privatization in Ukraine.

"Privatization of unprofitable enterprises will give them a new impetus to development, create jobs and have a positive impact on the economy. The sale of the Dnipro Hotel was a signal to investors that Ukraine is committed to the principles of fair and transparent bidding. Therefore, we invite American investors to take part in the auctions as well," Shmyhal noted.

The PM expressed gratitude to the United States for its consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the provision of important military assistance, and the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

As reported, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun arrived in Ukraine on August 26. On Wednesday evening, he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region.
