Hungary offers flood relief assistance to Ukraine
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said this at a joint briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv on June 25, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We are ready together to fight against floods on the Tisza River. This is an urgent problem. I also told Mr. Minister that if Hungary can help you in anything in this area, we are ready to do it,” he said.
In addition, Szijjártó recalled that Hungary had already offered Ukraine $50 million in financial assistance for the construction of roads in Zakarpattia region.
As Ukrinform reported, heavy rainfall on June 22-24 caused floods in western regions of Ukraine. A total of 285 towns and villages in Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Ternopil regions have been flooded.
