Italian ambassador thanks Ukraine for support in fight against coronavirus

This issue was discussed at a meeting between Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar and Italy's Ambassador to Ukraine Davide La Cecilia, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service reported.

"During the meeting, the Italian ambassador thanked Ukraine for solidarity with Italy in countering the COVID-19 epidemic and the humanitarian aid provided to Italian citizens. The Italian diplomat expressed special gratitude for the humanitarian mission to Italy of Ukrainian doctors who for three weeks in April 2020 provided assistance to their Italian colleagues in hospitals in the Marche region and had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Italian protocol for the treatment of the coronavirus disease," the report said.

The sides discussed a number of issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction within international organizations, in particular regarding the support of candidates for international bodies.

The diplomats paid special attention to the resumption of the work of the Ukrainian-Italian council on economic, industrial and financial cooperation and the involvement of Italian businesses in the implementation of investment projects in Ukraine.

According to the report, Italy, one of Ukraine's three largest trade partners in Europe, is ready to expand its business presence in Ukraine and positively evaluates the results of the recent meeting of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal with representatives of Italian companies.
