Government increases budget of unemployment assistance fund

The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated additional UAH 500 million to pay unemployment benefits, according to the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.
“On March 29, the government at an extraordinary meeting supported a resolution ‘On approving the budget of the Compulsory State Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine in case of unemployment in 2020'. According to the resolution, the Fund's budget has been increased by almost UAH 500 million,” reads the statement.
It notes that additional funds will increase the number of public employment service clients who can take advantage of social programs, which is important for supporting the unemployed.
As Ukrinform reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution that unemployment benefits would be accrued from the first and not the seventh day of registration in the employment service.
