U.S. will never recognize Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea – embassy

The United States of America will never recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia.
The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine said this in a statement regarding the sixth anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea.
"Six years ago Russia conducted a sham referendum in an attempt to justify its illegal seizure of Crimea. Crimea is Ukraine, and the United States will never recognize Russia's illegitimate occupation," the embassy posted on Twitter.
In March 2014, Russia annexed Crimea after an illegal referendum, which drew international condemnation as Russian soldiers occupied the region during the voting process.
Along with the UN general assembly, the U.S., EU, and Turkey do not recognize Crimea as Russian territory.
