MP: Parliamentary meeting on appointment of new prosecutor general may take place no earlier than March 17

An extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on the appointment of a new prosecutor general may take place no earlier than the next plenary week on March 17-20.

Deputy Chairman of the Law Enforcement Committee Serhiy Ionushas (the Servant of the People faction) said this to journalists on the sidelines of the parliament on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The next week (March 10-13) will be dedicated to work in the committees. Accordingly, if there is an extraordinary meeting regarding the appointment of a new prosecutor general, it will be held only in a week,” Ionushas said.

According to the schedule of the third session of the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation, the next plenary week in the Verkhovna Rada will begin on March 17 and will last until March 20.

As reported, on March 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a no-confidence motion against Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Riaboshapka. A total of 263 lawmakers voted in favor of this decision.
