Prystaiko urges UN Human Rights Council to protect rights of citizens in occupied Donbas and Crimea
"Participating in the high-level segment of the 43rd session of the UN Human Rights Council, head of the delegation of Ukraine, Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko underscored the need to incorporate the human rights component into all aspects of the UN activities, without which it is impossible to achieve progress in ensuring peace, security and sustainable development,” the Foreign Ministry press service informs.
As noted, Prystaiko drew attention of the delegations to the gross violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms perpetrated by the Russian occupying power in the Ukrainian territories, denying access of international monitoring mechanisms, and called on the Council, the UN human rights mechanisms and the international community to strengthen efforts for terminating these violations and releasing the Ukrainians who were illegally imprisoned by the occupying power.
