Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov has arrived in the village of Novi Sanzhary in Ukraine's Poltava region, where people evacuated from China were placed in quarantine.

"Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov arrived in Novi Sanzhary. Chairman of Poltava Regional State Administration Oleh Syniehubov met him on Saturday morning," the press service of Poltava RSA reported.

Danilov will get acquainted with the conditions of stay of Ukrainians at the National Guard Medical Center in Novi Sanzhary. Also, he will examine the situation of attacks on Ukrainians and foreigners evacuated from Wuhan.

The NSDC secretary went to Novi Sanzhary on behalf of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

On the morning of February 20, a plane with Ukrainian citizens and foreigners evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan landed in the Kharkiv airport. After inspection and passing the border and customs control, the buses with the evacuees left for Novi Sanzhary village in Poltava region where they were placed in quarantine at the National Guard Medical Center.

Residents of the village of Novi Sanzhary and neighboring settlements blocked roads, protesting against the placement of evacuees from China. Clashes erupted between protesters and police.

On February 21, the United Nations condemned the attack on Ukrainians and foreigners evacuated from Wuhan and called on the Ukrainian government to take precautionary measures against all people affected by the situation.
