Ukraine will raise the issue of an attack by Russian-backed forces in Donbas at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, February 18, spokesperson for the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN Oleg Nikolenko has reported on his Facebook page.

"Ukraine will raise the issue of shelling near Zolote at a UN Security Council meeting today," Nikolenko wrote.

According to him, the Ukrainian delegation will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya.

The meeting will start at 22:00 Kyiv time.

In addition, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu said he would also raise this issue at the UN Security Council meeting.

"We condemn in the strongest terms cynical attempts by Russian-backed forces to derail the fragile status quo near Zolote today. At UNSC today, Estonia will raise this yet another very serious breach by Russia of the Minsk agreements and the promises it made at Paris," he wrote on Twitter.

Russian-backed forces attacked the positions of Ukrainian Joint Forces units near the villages of Novotoshkivske, Orikhove, Krymske and Khutir Vilnyi early on Tuesday, February 18. One Ukrainian military has been killed, and another five have been wounded.

On February 18, New York will host a UN Security Council meeting initiated by the Russian delegation to discuss the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

On Thursday, February 20, at Ukraine's initiative, the UN General Assembly will hold a special meeting on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko will participate in the discussion.
