Zelensky thanks Pompeo for US sanctions policy

President Volodymyr Zelensky has called a U.S. sanctions policy effective and assured that sanctions help Ukraine counter threats.
He said this at a press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Kyiv on Friday, January 31, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"I thanked for the effective and efficient sanctions policy of the United States. It helps us to counter existing challenges, in particular in energy security and issues of Nord Stream 2," Zelensky said.
As Ukrinform reported, on December 20, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a law that imposes sanctions on any firm that helps Russia's state-owned gas company, Gazprom, finish a pipeline into the European Union.
