Verkhovna Rada ratifies Ukraine-Georgia free trade protocol

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has adopted the law ratifying the protocol on amendments to the January 9, 1995 free trade agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Georgia.

A total of 328 people's deputies voted in favor of the document on Tuesday, January 14, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

The parliament ratified the protocol between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Georgia on amendments to the January 9, 1995 agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Georgia, signed in Kyiv on May 21, 2019, which shall enter into force on the date of the last written notification of the fulfillment by the parties of domestic procedures necessary for its entry into force.

The ratification of the document will allow the use of identical rules of origin in bilateral trade and apply the principle of diagonal cumulation, as well as further increase exports to the countries and territories that are parties to the free trade agreement at preferential duty rates.
