The priorities of the Ukrainian government are the privatization of state-owned enterprises, the opening of the land market, the de-monopolization of the energy market and the development of infrastructure, Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has said.

He said this at a meeting with Latvian Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevics in Kyiv on Monday, October 7, according to the website of the Ukrainian government.

"The government plans to restore 24,000 kilometers of roads and build five seaports and 15 airports over the next five years," Honcharuk said.

He added that reform of the judicial system is also important to the Ukrainian authorities.

Honcharuk drew Rinkevics's attention to the fact that for the first time in Ukraine's history, European and Euro-Atlantic integration had been included in the government's program of activities.

Rinkevics, in turn, stated that Latvia would remain Ukraine's strategic partner in the context of European integration. He noted the readiness of the justice minister and the prosecutor general of Ukraine to actively engage in protecting the rights and interests of foreign investors and to create favorable conditions for doing business in Ukraine.

In addition, Rinkevics said that his country would continue to implement treatment and rehabilitation programs for Ukrainian servicemen, including those who were held captive in Russia.
