Kuchma discusses release of detainees with OSCE coordinator

Ukraine's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Leonid Kuchma and Coordinator of the Humanitarian Working Group at the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), OSCE Ambassador Toni Frisch discussed the course of the mutual release of detainees.

Darka Olifer, the spokesperson for former Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma, wrote this on her Facebook page on September 19.

"Leonid Kuchma met with OSCE Coordinator Toni Frisch in Kyiv today," she noted

Ukraine’s representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the TCG Valeria Lutkovska also took part in the meeting.

“During the negotiations, the parties discussed in detail the progress in the mutual simultaneous release of detainees,” Olifer said.

As reported, Russia and Ukraine exchanged detainees in the 35-for-35 format on September 7. Eleven Ukrainians illegally convicted in Russia, including Oleg Sentsov, Roman Sushchenko, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Pavlo Hryb and others, and 24 sailors detained near the Kerch Strait in late November 2018 returned to Ukraine.
