Zerkal: Subject of negotiation on Donbas is more important than format of dialogue

"We are constantly trying to change the format without saying anything about the essence - what we want to discuss in this format. In my opinion, we first need to decide what goals we set for enlarging this format. It’s one thing if we aim just to change the format, to change a picture actually. And it’s quite another matter if we aim to change the essence of this dialogue. But at the same time, the essence and the content should be elaborated first," Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olena Zerkal said on the air of Channel 5, commenting on the idea to enlarge the Normandy format.

Responding to a question about the biggest challenge facing President Zelensky in foreign policy in autumn, the diplomat answered: "making his statements meaningful."

"All our partners expect concrete content and actions related to what has already been declared by the President," she emphasized.

In this context, Zerkal noted that, in her opinion, much will depend on the new government as a tool for implementing both domestic and foreign policy.
