Zelensky calls on Normandy Four leaders to hold urgent meeting

“President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky... informed his French colleague that four Ukrainian servicemen had been killed as a result of shelling. The Head of State noted that it had not been the first shelling by the enemy aimed to disrupt the peace process initiated by the Ukrainian party... The President also urged the Normandy Four leaders to convene immediately to preserve the peace process and coordinate further steps aimed at the final settlement of the situation,” the press service of the Head of State reports.

As noted, Zelensky also told Macron about his latest conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin during which the President of Ukraine called for complying with the obligations to observe the ceasefire, release captured sailors and political prisoners.

“Emmanuel Macron expressed full support for the initiatives of Ukraine, agreed with the necessity of immediate holding of the meeting at the highest level, which should be preceded by the meeting of the official representatives of all four parties. He added that he would contact President of Russia Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to coordinate the initiative,” the press service reports.
