Berlin’s stance on sanctions against Russia remains unchanged
"Our attitude has not changed: sanctions against Russia have been unanimously introduced by the EU. They may, of course, be situationally adapted, but also unanimously," deputy German government spokesperson Ulrike Demmer said at a briefing in Berlin on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
That happened exactly after the escalation caused by Russia’s actions in the Kerch Strait and when Moscow violated the international law by the annexation of Crimea in 2014, the spokesperson reminded.
“In addition, Russia backs military hostilities against Ukraine and separatists, providing them with weapons,” she added.
"Thus, Russia's behavior has not become more positive," Demmer noted. But at the same time she stressed that Germany would try to keep the dialogue with Russia, including the economic one.
