Kwasniewski advises Zelensky to pay his first visit to Brussels

Ukraine's President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky should make his first foreign visits to Brussels, Warsaw, Berlin and Paris, former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski has said.

He said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"It would be good if Zelensky made one of his first visits to Warsaw. However, the first visit should be to Brussels," Kwasniewski said.

He noted that Brussels is very important from the point of view of Ukraine because it shows the pro-European and pro-Atlantic course, because there are NATO and EU headquarters there. He said that the next major capitals for the visit should be Berlin and Paris, as these are the countries of the Normandy format. Another destination is Warsaw, Kwasniewski said. At the same time, he advised Zelensky to go to Warsaw after Brussels anyway.

After the European capitals, according to Kwasniewski, Zelensky would have to travel to Washington, which is important from the point of view of Ukraine's security and Ukraine-Russia relations.

In addition, a visit to Minsk would also be necessary, he added.

"In my opinion, the continuation of closer relations and the game on the difference in the position of Lukashenko from Putin's would make sense. Belarus is also a neighbor of Ukraine, so I would take the contacts with President Lukashenko very seriously," Kwasniewski said.

At the same time, Kwasniewski did not recommend that Zelensky visit Moscow.

"There is no reason or encouragement for one of these first visits to be made to Moscow. Frankly, this is also important," he said.
