Tusk invites Poroshenko to Eastern Partnership meeting in Brussels

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked President of the European Council Donald Tusk for his significant support of Ukraine on the path of rapprochement with the EU and counteraction to Russian aggression over the past five years.

Poroshenko said this during a telephone conversation with Tusk on Tuesday, the press service of the head of state reported.

“Thanks to our joint efforts, Ukraine and the European Union today are closer than ever in the history of bilateral relations,” Poroshenko stressed.

Tusk highly appreciated the role of President Poroshenko in promoting the European integration agenda of Ukraine and strengthening the pro-Ukrainian international coalition on countering Russian aggression during his presidency.

The president of the European Council commended the Ukrainian authorities for providing free and democratic presidential elections that created a new high standard for the electoral process in Eastern Europe.

Tusk invited Poroshenko to take part in the events on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership Initiative in Brussels.
