Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and French Ambassador to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont discussed the issue of ensuring free and fair elections in Ukraine.

The press service of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine reported this on March 19.

“We discussed the issue of ensuring fair and transparent elections, as well as ensuring the rule of law on election day. I stressed once again that the Interior Ministry reacted harshly and uncompromisingly to the appeals about violations during the election process. Our main goal is to ensure that the legitimacy of a president does not cause doubts among the citizens of Ukraine and our international partners,” Avakov said.

In turn, the French ambassador noted that she supported and welcomed Ukraine’s position on fair elections.

As reported, the next presidential election of Ukraine are scheduled for March 31, 2019.
