The precise definitions of Russia as an aggressor and an invader can be heard in the UN hall, the territories seized by Russia are called occupied territories, and this is the result of global solidarity with Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

He stated this at St. Andrew Memorial Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States in South Bound Brook, New Jersey, on February 20, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Today I had the honor to speak on behalf of Ukraine at the debate on the situation in the occupied territories. In the UN hall, an invader is called an invader, an aggressor is called an aggressor, the seized territories are called the territories occupied by the aggressor. This is the result of global solidarity with Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

Poroshenko added that such direct definitions are "the result of global solidarity with Ukraine." He said that this was also a consequence of the uncompromising struggle of the Ukrainian people for their freedom and independence.

"Ukrainians are a nation, people who can never live freely. I want to thank our soldiers who are now defending the Ukrainian land on the front line and resisting the Russian aggressor," he said.

Addressing the community present at the cathedral, he asked them to pay tribute and respect to those who gave up their lives for freedom and independence of Ukraine, to protesters murdered on the Maidan Square in Kyiv and the military killed in eastern Ukraine.

On Wednesday, February 20, St. Andrew Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States hosted a memorial service for the deceased Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and a joint prayer service with the participation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States, Metropolitan Antony (Scharba) of Hierapolis.
