Yelchenko, Volker discuss Donbas, Crimea, release of Ukrainian hostages

Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Volodymyr Yelchenko met with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations, Ambassador Kurt Volker in New York on Monday, January 28, to discuss the situation in the occupied Ukrainian territories of Donbas and Crimea.

Spokesperson for the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN Oleg Nikolenko told this in a comment to Ukrinform's correspondent in New York.

"Ambassador Yelchenko and Special Representative Volker also discussed further steps on restoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including through deployment of an international peacekeeping mission to Donbas. Special attention has also been paid to the release of Ukrainian hostages and prisoners of war, in particular Ukrainian sailors, from Russia," Nikolenko said.

Ambassador Yelchenko thanked Special Representative Volker for the United States unwavering support of Ukraine as it continues facing Russian aggression.
