Commander-in-Chief of Ukrainian Armed Forces to attend meeting of NATO Military Committee

Chief of the General Staff, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General of the Army of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko will take part in a meeting of the NATO Military Committee at the Alliance headquarters.

"On January 15-16, 2019, a regular meeting of the NATO Military Committee at the level of the Chiefs of General Staff will be held at the Alliance headquarters ... Chief of the General Staff, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General of the Army of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko intends to take part in the meeting,” the Mission of Ukraine to NATO reports.

The security situation in the Euro-Atlantic region, the progress of implementation of the decisions approved at the previous NATO summits regarding the response to Russia's growing aggression, and the situation in the Middle East are among the issues on the agenda that will be discussed at the NATO Military Committee meeting.

The Military Committee is the senior military authority in NATO and the oldest permanent body in NATO after the North Atlantic Council. It is the primary source of military advice to the North Atlantic Council and the Nuclear Planning Group, and gives direction to the two Strategic Commanders.
