Bill on local elections set for December 23 published on parliament’s website

President Petro Poroshenko has called on the Verkhovna Rada to enshrine in law that provisions of the law on the prohibition of holding local elections in conditions of martial law do not apply to local elections scheduled for Sunday, December 23, 2018.
This is stipulated in bill No.9357, the text of which has been published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
"The draft law envisages that Article 28 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Legal Status of Martial Law” be supplemented by paragraph 2-2, which stipulates that the action of part one of Article 19 of this Law concerning the prohibition of holding local elections, scheduled for Sunday, December 23, 2018, in the conditions of martial law shall not be applied,” reads the explanatory note to the draft law.
