Ukrinform
Canada does not recognize and condemns the so-called elections held in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine on November 11.

Global Affairs Canada said this in a statement issued on November 14, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Canada joins its European allies and the United States in unreservedly rejecting the illegitimate and illegal November 11, 2018, elections in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine,” reads the statement.

The department noted that these ‘elections’ were “an attempt to validate the rule of Moscow-imposed Russian proxies”. “In the absence of a recognized legal basis or any credible international monitoring, the international community will not recognize these ‘elections,” reads the statement.

Global Affairs Canada added that “Canadians continues to stand steadfastly with the people of Ukraine”.
