NATO does not recognize 'elections' in occupied Donbas – statement
The NATO spokesperson said this in a statement posted on the website of the alliance on Sunday, November 11.
"NATO does not recognize the reported elections held on 11 November in the self-proclaimed and unrecognized 'Luhansk People's Republic' and 'Donetsk People's Republic.' They run contrary to the letter and spirit of the Minsk Agreements and undermine efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict," reads the statement.
The alliance also stressed that it supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
"NATO fully supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. We continue to call on Russia to withdraw its forces and cease all support to militant groups in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine," the statement said.
NATO also called for the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements by all sides and expressed support for the efforts of the Normandy format and the Trilateral Contact Group.
