Verkhovna Rada Speaker: We realize Russia will try to meddle in Ukraine’s elections

"The issue of cyber security and information security is very important for us. Next year, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Ukraine, and it is extremely important for us to ensure fair and transparent elections. We realize what efforts Russia will make to somehow meddle in the elections in Ukraine. Therefore, the issue of cyber security and information security remains very important for us," Parubiy said during a joint press conference with leaders of parliamentary factions and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kyiv on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

In addition, he thanked Angela Merkel for support in the humanitarian issues and in the release of Ukrainian political prisoners.

The Ukrainian Parliament speaker also added that Ukraine, while simultaneously repelling Russian aggression, had to conduct the reforms practically in all spheres of public life. “For the last year alone, the Ukrainian parliament has adopted at the legislative level the medical reform and the pension reform. We have actually completed the anti-corruption reform at the legislative level by passing the law on creation of the High Anti-Corruption Court this summer. We are conducting a large-scale security and defense sector reform. Energy security, information security and cyber security are also important for us," Parubiy stressed.
