Ukraine counts on cooperation with Slovakia in management of GTS – Klimkin
Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin stated this at a joint press conference with Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We have discussed the issue of gas transit, since we now receive most of natural gas through Slovakia. We are very actively developing this cooperation, we hope that Slovakia will be actively involved in the future and in the management of our gas transmission system. We talked with Mr.Lajcak that it is important for us to extend the whole framework of European rules to our energy industry. This means that our energy industry should operate in line with the European rules, tariffs should be established in line with the European rules, and contracts should be concluded in line with the European rules,” Klimkin said.
He also stressed that Ukraine consistently adheres to its position on the Nord Stream project.
“We consistently work against the Nord Stream and understand that if we talk about such projects in general, then they also have to fall under the European rules, otherwise everything may be just the opposite," Klimkin added.
