A UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas could include soldiers from Sweden, Finland, Austria, Belarus, Serbia and Turkey.

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker said this in an interview with the Echo of Moscow Russian radio station.

"A number of states has already stated that they will be ready to contribute to the mission, namely Sweden, Finland, Austria, Belarus, Serbia and Turkey," he said.

In his opinion, this is a good range of countries that includes several states being considered in Russia more as part of the West, while some states as part of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

According to Volker, the problem with the Minsk agreements is that they are not implemented. That’s why the United States, France and Germany proposed the deployment of peacekeeping forces under the UN mandate in order to ensure security in the conflict area independently.
