Donald Trump congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day

President of the United States Donald Trump sent a letter of congratulation to President Petro Poroshenko on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine, noting that Ukrainians have something to be proud of, the press service of the President of Ukraine reports.

"The people of Ukraine have something to be proud of: for four years Ukraine has been courageously opposing Russian aggression and has been blessed with a vibrant civil society, growing economy and the Armed Forces that are more powerful than ever," Donald Trump said.

The U.S. President emphasized: “Please keep in mind that the United States will always stand alongside Ukraine when it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders”.

The letter also reads that the United States will continue to work with Ukraine and support efforts aimed to strengthen democratic institutions, build up the rule of law, fight corruption and stimulate economic growth.

Donald Trump also wished Ukraine a peaceful and successful year.
