Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with Slovenian Ambassador to Ukraine Natasa Prah on July 25 on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission in Ukraine and noted the strengthening of partnership between the two countries in recent years, the presidential press service has reported.

"The head of state thanked the ambassador of Slovenia for the active support of Ukraine during the extraordinary challenges faced by our state in the matter of ensuring sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as deepening internal transformations," the statement reads.

It notes that Slovenia's clear and consistent position in the issue of counteracting the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and the important humanitarian and technical assistance of the Slovenian side was particularly noted at the meeting. A significant enhancement of partnership between the parties and the readiness of Ukraine and Slovenia to continue efforts to fully open up the potential of bilateral cooperation was emphasized.

"Relations between our countries have never been as close and warm as today. They are based on mutual understanding and mutual support," Prah said, thanking the president and his team for their support.

According to the report, the ambassador noted Ukraine's serious progress over the past four years on the path of democratic reforms and a significant acceleration of rapprochement with the EU.

As reported, Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with Slovenian President Borut Pahor in Kyiv in May that trade between Ukraine and Slovenia in 2017 grew by 31%.
