Klimkin and Hahn in Brussels urge Russia to free all Ukrainian political prisoners
"On July 13, 2018, during a visit to Brussels, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin held a meeting with European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn. The parties urged the Russian Federation to release all illegally detained Ukrainian political prisoners, in particular Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, who is on a hunger strike for 60 days,” reads the report.
The interlocutors also welcomed the results of the 20th EU-Ukraine Summit, following which the joint statement was issued, and discussed ways to further expand Ukraine's political, economic and sectoral integration with the European Union.
In addition, Klimkin and Hahn discussed the issue of Eastern Partnership development, in particular, the expectations for the Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting scheduled for October 2018 in Luxembourg, as well as an informal EU-Ukraine-Georgia-Moldova meeting at the level of economy and trade ministers scheduled for September 2018.
