EU introduces new sanctions against organizers of so-called Russian presidential election in Crimea – Poroshenko
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this during a joint press conference with President of Slovenia Borut Pahor in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We have just received a message, as a result of intensive coordination of our actions with international partners in the EU, including Slovenia, saying that on May 8 the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU made a decision in accordance with the EU Council Regulation on restrictive measures taken in relation to the undermining of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. These legal acts include persons who took direct part in organization and conduct of the illegal presidential election of the Russian Federation in the territory of Crimea into the list of individual sanctions," Poroshenko noted.
He also thanks the European partners for the relevant decision and assures that Ukraine appreciates such position of the EU, including Slovenia.
