First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko says that during the period of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine more than 4.4 million Ukrainians have suffered and more than 2,000 military personnel have been killed.

This was reported by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Gerashchenko participated in a round table at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, on the topic "The Conflict in Donbas: The Human Dimension" held in London on May 9.

"Iryna Gerashchenko informed the experts of the leading analytical centers of the UK about current situation in security and humanitarian situation in Donbas. She noted that during the Russian Federation's aggression in Ukraine more than 4.4 million Ukrainians had injured and more than 2,000 military personnel had been killed," the report reads.

During the discussion, Gerashchenko has reported on a number of issues of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbas, which remain blocked. According to her, one of such issues is the introduction of a tripartite mechanism for searching for missing persons in Donbas with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. At the same time, the politician says that today more than 300 people are still missing.

The representative of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group stresses that the initiative of the Ukrainian side to transfer 23 citizens of the Russian Federation convicted of crimes against Ukraine's territorial integrity within the humanitarian subgroup for the release of political prisoners of the Kremlin, unfortunately, remains unanswered.

As previously reported, Gerashchenko said that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to destabilize the whole of Ukraine and Europe, in particular, through interference in the upcoming elections in Ukraine.
