Ukraine, Hungary should resolve conflicts on language issue as soon as possible

Contradictions between Ukraine and Hungary on the language issue should be resolved at the level of two countries.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this at a press conference on Thursday, Ukrinform’s correspondent in Brussels reported.

"We could not hold a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission at the ministerial level, because Hungary blocked the meeting as it did not agree with the Ukrainian language law. Ukraine and Hungary themselves should resolve the contradictions regarding the rights of national minorities," the head of the Alliance said.

He expresses hope that these contradictions between the parties will be resolved as soon as possible.

Stoltenberg stresses that Ukraine is an important partner of NATO, and the Alliance provides powerful political and practical support to Kyiv under the conditions of Crimea’s annexation by aggressive Russia and destabilization of the situation in eastern Ukraine.

As reported, Hungary blocked the holding of a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission at the ministerial level for the third time, thus expressing its claims regarding the language article of the Ukrainian law on education.
