Semerak: Environmental issues among priorities for Ukrainian government

Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Ostap Semerak stated that the fight against climate change and the issues of clean environment are among priority tasks for the Ukrainian government.

He stated this at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The issues of combating climate change, reducing the carbon dependency of our economy, fighting for a clean environment are priorities not only for the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry or the Regional Development Ministry, but the entire Ukrainian government too," Semerak said.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadiy Zubko praised the rapid development of renewable energy sector in Ukraine.

"We are rapidly moving towards renewable energy sources: over the past three years we have added a 42% increase in the introduction of renewable energy sources," Zubko stressed.
