MEP Boni to initiate closer EU-Ukraine cooperation on cybersecurity

Ukrinform
The EU and Ukraine should cooperate more closely on cybersecurity. The deepening of cooperation in this field between Brussels and Kyiv will be initiated during the meeting of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee in Strasbourg on April 16-18.

MEP Michal Boni said this at a press conference in Warsaw, answering the question of an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I will put this issue on the meeting’s agenda. I will also suggest starting active cooperation with Ukraine in this area. Despite the fact that Ukraine is not a member of the EU yet, it should follow a similar path to achieve certificates and form appropriate standards in the cybersecurity system," Boni said.

As the MEP stressed, now it’s an excellent opportunity for the EU, while elaborating new cybersecurity standards, to encourage the Eastern Partnership countries to follow its lead.
