U.S. Embassy outlines indispensable condition for successful judicial reform in Ukraine

Ukrinform
The U.S. Embassy believes that the joint work of the High Qualification Commission of Judges and the Public Integrity Council is an indispensable condition for successful judicial reform.

"The Public Integrity Council has a critical, statutory role in selecting judges. The High Qualification Commission of Judges and PIC working together is imperative for judicial reform to succeed," the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv posted on Twitter.

As reported, the Public Integrity Council on March 25 announced the termination of participation in the qualification assessment of judges, arguing it does not want to participate in the "pseudo-inspection" conducted by the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

The Public Integrity Council was established and is working to assist the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine in determining the compliance of a judge (a candidate for the position of judge) with the criteria of professional ethics and integrity.
