Poroshenko: There is risk of Russia's interference in Ukrainian elections
He stated this in an interview with British newspaper Financial Times, the press service of the head of state reported.
"I tried to protect Ukraine from the dangers of hybrid war, including the system of their fake news, [and] using social media," Poroshenko said.
He expressed hope that Ukraine would use the experience of German and French legislation to counteract fake news.
"We have an absolutely wide range of dangers from Russia, starting from the fact that we stopped more than 400 terrorist attacks by a training camp in the Russian Federation. Everybody should understand that it is not a frozen conflict. This is a real hot war. We're attacked, every single day, they go with snipers and try to kill my soldiers. It's absolutely crazy behavior," the president said.
He also added that Russia uses a huge army of provocateurs and agents in social media. He recalled that that's why Russian TV broadcasting and Russian social media had been stopped, "because they use it for propaganda war."
According to him, Ukraine has effective cooperation with the secret services of partners from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. "I'm proud that we have trust there. But there's a lot of work that should be done," he added.
