Moldova and Georgia have supported the initiative of Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy on the establishment of an interparliamentary assembly.

This was announced at the joint press conference of the speakers of the parliaments of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia in Chisinau, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I hope that our colleagues from Moldova and Georgia will accede to a proposal to establish an interparliamentary assembly. The Assembly will be an excellent platform for closer regional cooperation and achievement of the main goal – the European integration of our states," Verkhovna Rada Speaker Parubiy said.

President of the Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu stated in this connection that the establishment of an interparliamentary assembly "Ukraine-Georgia-Moldova" would facilitate the coordination of the efforts of the three states to implement the fundamental provisions of the Association Agreement with the European Union.

Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze expressed a similar opinion.

As reported, the first inter-parliamentary conference "Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges" is held on the initiative of President of the Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze and with the support of the Atlantic Council.
