Independent court is guarantee of Ukraine’s sovereignty – Poroshenko

“Today, nobody doubts that such principles as the rule of law, competence, independence and impartiality and, of course, responsibility are the basis not only of the fair court but are the basis of the rule of law, the rule of law of Ukraine. An independent court is a guarantee of our sovereignty,” said Poroshenko during the events dedicated to the start of work of the new composition of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He added that today, 115 judges of the new Supreme Court will start to render justice, they took an oath of judges a month ago.

President Poroshenko also stressed that it is symbolic that the new Supreme Court it begins its work on the Court Workers' Day that is marked in Ukraine on December 15, as well as in the year when Ukraine celebrates the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the General Court of the Ukrainian People's Republic.
