Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has thanked Poland for its active participation in the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine.

He said this at a press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Kharkiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I thanked Mr. President for Poland's active participation in the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, which allows today to provide transparent and objective information for the whole world on events, including in the occupied territory. Poland's mission is one of the biggest, and we highly appreciate the contribution of the Poles to securing peace in the east," Poroshenko said.

He also said that he had discussed with Duda the coordination of actions on supporting joint initiatives for the deployment of peacekeepers - "true peacekeepers, rather than security guards of OSCE SMM observers, who should work in the entire occupied territory of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, not just along the contact line."
